Self-Assessment

The process of writing this paper forced me to reflect on how I went about teaching others based on how I've been taught in the past, and other factors in my life that had a direct impact on my methods of thought. I actually found myself enjoying the writing process as it made me think back through parts of my education in ways that I hadn't before.

This ties into NETS standard 1-c by having me reflect on my own understanding, thinking, planning, and creative processes.

I wouldn't do anything specifically different if I were to create this paper again. However, the fact that this would be done at a later stage in my educational career would mean that my reflections would be different, and some of my conclusions may have changed. By taking the time to review my experiences in the educational arena I was able to recognize why I taught in certain ways when given the chance. It also helped me to understand how I learned best, and why I used certain sources for more information over others.

Content Explanation

The artifact below is the final paper for the class. It is a statement of my philosophy on life and education. It was created as a way of reviewing and combining what I had learned in the class with what I had learned elsewhere in life. It has a direct relationship with the rest of my course artifacts because it explains the process behind how I created the majority of them.

Process Reflection

This artifact was created to be a measurable example of my learning of the concepts presented in the course. One of the obstacles I faced was taking the time to reflect on all of the reasons that underpinned my methods for developing teaching materials or learning information for myself. It was rare for me to look that deeply at my own thought processes. The paper was a direct result of a course requirement for the TE 803 class and was developed after several related concepts were learned during the course itself.
